Chapter 2 : Jaggery

Yesterday morning I and Amy were busy keeping all the items we brought from SPAR hypermarket day before. She was taking all the items out of the carry bag and handing over to me and I was putting it in their respective jars. And for each Item she will ask what is inside the packet and I will tell her what it is.

Finally she took the jaggery packet and she asked me what it is .I told her “Sharkara” (Malayalam word for Jaggery).And a sudden smile appeared on her face.  J

Like mom, like child, as we both like sweets very much…..

I understood why she is smiling. I always give her a small piece whenever I open Jaggery jar.

Now she is waiting for me to open the packet and give her some Jaggery, She kept rest of the items in carry bag itself and stopped doing her part of job. (Taking all the items out of the carry bag and handing over to me)J

So I took the Jaggery Jar from the shelf and opened the packet. Since the Cubes are big enough, I have bought only two cubes. She took one cube out of the packet and asking me to cut and give her.

I cut a small piece out of it and gave it to her. She had it in “seconds” and stretching her little hand for more.. :D

I told her   ..”No Amy,you are not supposed to have more Jaggery”

She : “Amma,Please Amma,give me some more in a Plate”

I was surprised.I used to give her snacks in Plate.

I : “Whatttt….you want Jaggery in a plate”????.

She : “Yes Amma..Please…”

I : “Ammu,this is not a snacks to have in plate. I can’t give Jaggery in plate “

She got angry and started crying.

And I was wondering how I can make her understand that Jaggery is not a snacks to have in plate.. J
