Chapter 28 : Amy and Our Cook

Once Amy started going to UKG, we appointed a cook to prepare dinner, so that I can spend more time on her studies. Cook will be cooking Chapathi alternative days and Amy does not like Chapathi.
One Day after Cook finished her cooking and about to leave. Then Amy called her and told her that next day we won’t be available and she need not come.. I was surprised. Even cook looked at me, since I will always inform prior if I have some other plans. Actually we have a plan to visit my in laws next day but we will be back by evening.
So I told cook that, there is no leave for you tomorrow, we will be available, so please come and cook. But Amy interfere and said, “No Aunty, please don’t come tomorrow, I don’t want to eat Chapathi, I want Pizza.if you didnt come only I can ask Acha to order Pizza.”
Cook and I started laughing and just then my Husband came back from work. My cook informed my husband that since the Owner Amma (Owner lady/head of the house} granted a leave tomorrow, she won’t be coming tomorrow. Then my husband had a look on me thinking I might have planned for something else. I just nodded by head telling I did not tell anything. Then he got to know which owner Amma Cook is referring.
Then Amy said: “Acha.., I don’t want Chapathi, I want Pizza”.

Another Day, Amy didn’t had her afternoon nap and she was very moody by evening. When Cook came and asked me what to cook, I said Chapathi.. Then Amy told, no she don’t want Chapathi and started crying.. Her dad asked her what she want and she said she want Pasta.
Cook told her that she don’t know how to cook pasta and only your mom knows how to cook pasta..Then Amy went to Kitchen, take the wheat flour bucket from my cook(She was about to take the wheat flour by then) and asked her to get out…
Amy said: “Aunty, if you don’t know how to cook pasta, you just go out. My Amma will cook pasta for me”.
After sometime, after taking a bath, she became ok and by the time cook prepared Wheat flour Dosa.
She had dosa and slept happily.

Chapter 27 : Independence Day

This year’s Independence Day was a busy day for Amy.

She was Sarojini Naidu at school and Malayali girl at the Independence Day celebration in our flats.
For the costume, we got a new small Kerala saree from Saravana stores. I used the same costume for both Sarojini Naidu and Malayali manga. Amy was so cute in her Saree.

On August 14, she dressed up like Sarojini Naidu and we dropped her at school since we do not want her to go in school bus with all the make-up. Once we reached school, our Sarojini Naidu need a lift till her classroom since she can’t walk in her saree. So I have to carry her.. J

Her class teacher (Renuka Mam) shared photos and video of her speech from her personal number and asked us not to share with anyone since it is against school’s rule. So nice of her. In the video, I can see Sarojini Naidu delivering her speech well and good. Proud of my little girl. J

Next day, that is on 15th August, she is having a dance performance as a Malayali girl. For that, she got dressed up as Malayali manga and went to the open stage. All the other kids representing different states are also dressed up and was present. Program started and Amy was the first performer…
“My name is Malathi, I am from Aleppy…”the song went on and Amy danced well. All kids performed well…

It was a happy occasion of One more year adding to our Indian independence.
Bharat Mata ki Jai.. Jai hind.. Vanthe Madaram…

Chapter 26: Whisky and Scotch

You may be thinking what I am going to tell about Whisky and Scotch in my kids blog. No no.nothing related to what you are thinking .They are just names… Yes, they are the names of two Dogs in my flat. Actually in my tower. "5A"
Whisky is a Siberian husky bread whereas Scotch is a Pekingese. Both are 2 months old. Since Whisky is big for 2 months Amy is little afraid of him, but Scotch is small and looks like a doll, Amy likes Scotch. Whisky belongs to two Bachelors studying in Ramachandra Medical College, and they stay in 9th floor. Scotch belongs to two spinsters studying in Ramachandra Medical College, and they stay in 4th floor.
Both these ‘cuties’ (for me as I love dogs) will come for walking while Amy wait for her school bus in the morning. Amy who was afraid of puppies now started touching Scotch and started playing with him.
Even she is asking her Dad to buy her a dog like scotch. Since we are staying in Flat, even I am not ok to buy a dog.
So for the time being, I am happy that she is no longer afraid of puppies..
And Whisky and I are friends.. We always have a little chit chat while walking.. J
