Chapter 34 :Corono Virus, Amy and Me

Its Covid-19 everywhere. So My Manger asked me to work from home for 2 weeks from March 3rd week. Schools are closed. Malls and theatres closed. Even though no case reported from Tamil Nadu, Government is taking precautions. So it’s all at home time. For Amy, school got closed in between her annual examinations and we are not sure if the exams will take place or not. Or if it is a long summer vacation for her.
Her UKG Graduation day was planned on March 21st. Since its government order to avoid meetings and get together, we are not sure if Amy will have any Graduation day or Annual Day this year.
But the thing is it’s only the starting of vacation and I am not able to manage Amy. I don’t know how I am going to manage her whole Vacation. She started exploring new things like what will happen if you keep a balloon inside freezer. If you switch on the mixer grinder etc..

And more to come.. :)

Chapter 33 :Guinness world record

It all started with a message from Dance Mam. Guinness world record attempt of 10,000 + dancers performing Bharatanatyam together. It was a government program. She told us we just need to dance as others and we will be getting certificates. Dance teacher asked us to enroll.
6 kids from Prince highlands and myself enrolled for the event. We got only one weeks’ time and we were not able to learn the dance properly. However, Dance Mam said nothing to worry. We can dance by seeing others.
Finally, the day has arrived and Amy and I got ready. We (Myself, Amy and Achayan) went along with Aadhya, Abarna and Uday in their Car. We reached the destination by 3.30. Harshini and Shourya join us there. Since it is a 10000+ participant event, it’s so crowded with participants and their parents teachers etc. we didn’t meet Mam, Laksha and Veenu.  We waited for long time at the venue and finally by 4.30, they let the participants inside the venue ground. Again, it took another 2 hours to start the program. By that time all the participants are tired and organizer’s didn’t provide even water.
Aadya started telling, she wants to go to rest room. Since it’s a crowd I can’t find her parents. Luckily I met Dance Mam and I send Aadya with her . Since it is a small kid and she is not convenient with crowd. She didn’t go. By 6.30, when the event started, aadya started crying. The organisers announce a practice before the actual dance performance. After practice, aadya started crying more, saying  she is having stomach ache. I got tensed. I don’t know what to do.. I can’t take her alone and go. Other kids wil be alone. Also, I don’t know where I can find her parents. I took all then 4 kids and moved out of the stage while they started actual performance.
Somehow I managed to find Harshini’s dad and he took us to the parents. Then we moved out of the venue, took Aadya to rest room and gave kids water and snacks. Since we had moved out first, we luckily escaped from the traffic jam.
All went well and the performance got the Guinness world record even though we didn’t dance in the final performance
For all the effort by small kids, hope we will receive certificate.

Chapter 31: Diwali Celebration

After all the fights Amy had in the school, my brother would say since she is studying well she is still in that school, else they might have send her out far before. I also thought the same .. J
For this Diwali celebration, Amy is a part of skit. They are doing a skit on ecofriendly crackers.
Renuka Mam shared the Video of the skit and all the kids did well.
Since she is good in storytelling and delivering speech well she is selected for the British Council International School Award program after few days of Diwali celebration. She and another boy called Megahv represents Vedanta Academy and they have a skype call with kids in Malaysia.
They are going to speak about Diwali. Amy needs to tell the main portion of the script.ie, the story behind Diwali.
It took one week to practice and she did well..

And her Diwali at home also was fun. We bought some sparklers and gun and we had fun. :)

Chapter 30 : Another side of Amy

It was on October 19th 2019, we had a PTA meeting after first term and term break.
We all went to meet her Renuka Mam. Once our turn came, we went inside and she shared her first term answer sheets. All are good. Full marks in all subjects. J
Then Renuka Mam asked Amy to go outside and play in the play area. She said she need to talk to us alone. Therefore, Amy went. The mother inside me started to worry from that second.. Yes. A much-unexpected behavior of Amy came out. That. She is having fight with everyone in the class including teachers and Aunties. L I was shocked. Is that Amy? Really my daughter?
Yes..
Renuka Mam was asking for any reason for her such kind of behavior. We cannot figure it out anything.
However, I remember certain incidents where Amy became rude to others. Like she beat her friend Hasini(little girl) for not playing with her. She fought with Laksha since Adya drank water from her bottle not from Amy’s bottle. Those are the silly fights she made and she was very angry. However, for each above incidents I had punished her also.
As discussed with Renuka Mam, what exactly happening is she do not know how to control her anger.
Yes. Anger management. You might be thinking why you should worry about a small girls anger Management. However, yes, we need to worry. Because, this little girl is tomorrows Women. Therefore, she should learn how to manage her Anger.
Ok. Back to the PTA meeting classroom, I realize that my eyes are getting wet. Because, this is not the Amy I teach to be.. This is not the Amy I expected to be.. I somehow managed to get out of the school after PTA, got into our Car, and started weeping... L
Even Amy felt bad and she promised not to fight with anyone. Husband and myself sit and discussed about the situation. We need to make her control her Anger.
Actual problem with Amy was; she consider herself superior to all and needs others to obey her.
Therefore, we spoke with Amy, and told her that we are not going to obey anything she ask for if she speak rudely.
Everything was going well for few days. After 2 weeks, I was working from Home, since Shobana was on leave. Amy came back from School and told me that she had a fight with Thanmaya. She first made a story that while going to rest room Thanmaya fight with her. However, once I started asking repeatedly, she told the real incident. Amy asked Thanmaya to take her Bag since Rishi was holding Amy back. But Thanmaya did not listen. So Amy went and pushed Thanmaya and Thanmaya fell down. Teacher scolded Amy and told her that Thanmaya is going to tell her parents about this. For that Amy became furious, went, and asked Thanmaya whether she will inform her parents. Thanmaya said yes. Amy got Angry again and beat Thanmaya again. This time her teacher also got angry and told other kids not to talk to Amy. This in turn made Amy sad, and so angrier. She did not listen to Mam and she did not do her school works.
After 2 hours, Renuka Mam made a call and she complained about the same thing. I became sad again.
I scolded Amy like nothing. Every day I was telling her not to fight with anyone and asking to sit quite for some time if you feel like angry.
Again, she felt bad and told me that she will not be rude to anyone anymore.
Again, things were going well for another 3 weeks and Amy cam and told me that she had a fight with Kripa. The issue was Amy went and sat with Saisakthi that day. Kripa went and complaint to Mam saying any is not Saisakthi’s friend and then why Amy is sitting with Saisakthi. This made Amy angry and she went a beat her... J
These silly fights... J
However, things are getting better now. I am telling her every day before going to school that she should not fight with anyone and if she feels angry, sit quite for some time. In addition, every evening I am making her to say what happened in school that day.
I can see changes in her...
Yes, kids are growing and we can expect changes in their character. However, make sure you notice it and make necessary steps.

Chapter 28 : Amy and Our Cook

Once Amy started going to UKG, we appointed a cook to prepare dinner, so that I can spend more time on her studies. Cook will be cooking Chapathi alternative days and Amy does not like Chapathi.
One Day after Cook finished her cooking and about to leave. Then Amy called her and told her that next day we won’t be available and she need not come.. I was surprised. Even cook looked at me, since I will always inform prior if I have some other plans. Actually we have a plan to visit my in laws next day but we will be back by evening.
So I told cook that, there is no leave for you tomorrow, we will be available, so please come and cook. But Amy interfere and said, “No Aunty, please don’t come tomorrow, I don’t want to eat Chapathi, I want Pizza.if you didnt come only I can ask Acha to order Pizza.”
Cook and I started laughing and just then my Husband came back from work. My cook informed my husband that since the Owner Amma (Owner lady/head of the house} granted a leave tomorrow, she won’t be coming tomorrow. Then my husband had a look on me thinking I might have planned for something else. I just nodded by head telling I did not tell anything. Then he got to know which owner Amma Cook is referring.
Then Amy said: “Acha.., I don’t want Chapathi, I want Pizza”.

Another Day, Amy didn’t had her afternoon nap and she was very moody by evening. When Cook came and asked me what to cook, I said Chapathi.. Then Amy told, no she don’t want Chapathi and started crying.. Her dad asked her what she want and she said she want Pasta.
Cook told her that she don’t know how to cook pasta and only your mom knows how to cook pasta..Then Amy went to Kitchen, take the wheat flour bucket from my cook(She was about to take the wheat flour by then) and asked her to get out…
Amy said: “Aunty, if you don’t know how to cook pasta, you just go out. My Amma will cook pasta for me”.
After sometime, after taking a bath, she became ok and by the time cook prepared Wheat flour Dosa.
She had dosa and slept happily.
